Overview

The Patient Account Representative performs various routine and complex clerical tasks and deals with patients family members, visitors and clinic personnel in other departments to ensure good internal and public relations.

Responsibilities

  • Answer clinic business line and assist patients with billing questions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all appropriate insurance carriers.
  • Verify insurance coverage.
  • Work closely with receptionists, patient advocates, and central billing department regarding patient information; insurance updates.
  • Review patient balance/collection accounts and make appropriate financial arrangements/payment plans.
  • Scrub claims.
  • Work appropriate billing queues daily.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, , plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate.
  • Must be self-motivated.
