Overview

The Laboratory Assistant/Ancillary Receptionist/Phlebotomist:   Assist in scheduling and managing ancillary department workflows while ensuring a positive patient experience. Previous experience specifically with electronic health records (eCW) and Orchard software. Proficient knowledge of medical terminology. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient interaction. Collect and handle various sample types, gets samples ready to send to reference laboratories from patients of all ages in a professional and compassionate manner. Certification in phlebotomy and/or relevant experience in patient care is a plus. The position is Monday thru Friday 2:30pm to 5:30pm.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting samples, checking in patients, and other phlebotomy area duties. This duty is performed as needed
  • Take telephone messages and responds appropriately. Deliver, telephone, or fax reports. This duty is performed daily.
  • Process and prepare samples for Home Health, shipping, add-ons, and storage. This duty is performed daily.
  • Scan and maintain files of appropriate laboratory documents. This duty is performed daily.
  • Be proficient in working with appropriate computer applications. This duty is performed daily.

Qualifications

  • Current phlebotomy certification is desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivelant
