Overview

Assist physician in setting up for procedures and exams. Revise daily schedules to ensure records and results are available for physician review. Triage patients to ensure productive departmental flow and patient is a good candidate for Infusion procedure.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in evaluating of nursing needs of patients; assesses problems affecting patients. 
  • Obtain medical history from patients. Document nursing assessment. Document patient care interventions and patient education.
  • Ensures that appropriate patient consents and insurance authorizations are obtained for medical treatment. 
  • Administer Chemotherapy drugs in the infusion area. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Central Line, Port, and IV management. 
  • Provides nursing care to the patient receiving the infusion. 
  • Notify patients of test/lab results and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Complete referral to specialists if ordered by physician. 
  • Document in EMR all phone conversations and orders in a timely manner. 
  • Give injections and medications as per protocol and document appropriately in EMR. 
  • E-prescribe medications as appropriate and send in mail order prescriptions as needed. 
  • Perform prior authorizations as required. 
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Graduate certificate from accredited Registered Nurse RN program
  • Two years experience preferred but not required
  • RN degree and State RN license. Current CPR License
